Why Are My Breasts Coming Out of the Bottom of My Bra?

Finding the right bra fit is essential for comfort, support, and confidence. But one common issue that many women experience is their breasts spilling out from the bottom of their bra. This isn’t just uncomfortable—it’s a clear sign that something isn’t quite right with your bra size, fit, or style.

At MAAREE, we believe that every woman deserves a supportive and comfortable fit, so let's dive into why this happens and how to fix it.

Common Causes of Breasts Spilling Out from the Bottom of the Bra

  1. The Band is Too Loose
The band of your bra provides most of the support, and if it's too loose, it won’t stay in place. This can cause your breasts to slip down and out from the bottom of the bra.

How to Fix It:
Make sure your bra band fits snugly around your ribcage without digging in. It should be firm enough to stay in place when you lift your arms but not so tight that it causes discomfort. If your band rides up or you can easily fit more than two fingers under it, it’s likely too loose.

  1. The Cups Are Too Small
Another common reason for breasts coming out of the bottom is that the cups are too small. If your breasts don’t have enough room inside the cups, they’ll naturally try to push your bra away from your body and escape from any available space—including the bottom.

How to Fix It:
Try sizing up in the cup to give your breasts more room. A properly fitted cup should fully encapsulate your breast tissue without spillage from the top, sides, or bottom.

  1. Worn-Out Bra
Over time, bras lose their elasticity and structure. If you’re wearing a bra that’s past its prime, the band may have stretched out and no longer provides the necessary support.

How to Fix It:
Regularly replace your bras to ensure they provide the support you need. If your bra has been worn frequently for over a year, it’s probably time for a replacement. At MAAREE, we offer a 12-month sports bra guarantee, so you know you’re always getting the best support.

  1. Incorrect Bra Style for Your Breast Shape
Not all bras are created equal, and different styles suit different breast shapes. For example, if you have a fuller breast shape, a bra with more coverage may be better suited to you.

How to Fix It:
Try different styles to see what works best for you. At MAAREE, we recommend our Solidarity Bra for high-impact support and our Empower Bra for a versatile, everyday option.

Mari’s Personal Experience

When I started working in the sports bra industry, I was shocked by how many women were experiencing issues with their bras simply because they weren’t educated on proper fit. I even had my own struggles with bras that didn’t fit well. I thought it was normal to have breasts spilling out from the bottom, but it wasn’t until I tested bras in a lab setting that I realised the importance of a secure fit.

This experience led me to create MAAREE and design bras with features like our Overband® Technology, which helps reduce upward and downward breast movement during exercise. Our mission is to provide bras that fit properly and make women feel empowered.

Quick Tips to Prevent Breasts Spilling Out of the Bottom of Your Bra

  1. Check the Band Fit: Make sure your band is snug and doesn’t ride up.

  2. Ensure the Cups Are the Right Size: No spillage from any direction.

  3. Replace Worn-Out Bras: Don’t hold on to bras that have lost their structure.

  4. Choose the Right Style: Pick a bra that suits your breast shape.

If you’re experiencing breasts spilling out from the bottom of your bra, don’t worry—it’s a common issue with a simple solution. It’s all about finding the right fit and style that works for you. At MAAREE, we’re here to support you on your journey to finding the perfect bra.
